Our cost of goods was around $17.99 and we sold the product for $59.99, resulting in a break-even ratio of 1.4. This means that anything above 1.4 is profitable. We considered selling the product for $99.99, which would bring the break-even ratio down to 1.2, but we decided to be more aggressive and set the price at $59.99. Before choosing a product, it is important to consider the break-even ratio to understand how much you can spend to acquire customers. In our case, we had approximately $42 to work with, but we recommend keeping the cost per acquisition between $25 and $28 to be safe. When launching a product through paid ads, the cost per acquisition tends to be higher initially and gradually decreases over time. It is important to leave room for ad fatigue or expensive ads in order to avoid burning through cash too quickly. We found this product by using an ad spy tool and filtering ads with keywords such as "protective gear" and "protective wear." These keywords led us to an underrated niche that most drop shippers do not consider. We also used a simple strategy to find our biggest competitors by searching for specific keywords on Google and looking at the organic listings. We found a competitor selling similar products at a much higher price, which gave us confidence in our pricing strategy. To determine the profitability of the competitor's store, we used a store tracking tool and found that they were making $8,000 in sales per day.
